WHAT IS THE RENTAL HOUSING TRIBUNAL?
  • It is a legal body set up by the Eastern Cape Department of Human Settlements to deal with disputes between Landlord and Tenants.
  • It has same powers as the magistrate court.
  • It provides free service to all the people of the Eastern Cape Province.
  • Dispute resolution between landlords and tenants may be in a form of an investigation, mediation and or hearing and is held as close as possible to a point of a complaint.

✽  Who May Lodge A Complaint?



  • Any tenant or landlord or group of tenants or landlords or interested group in the Eastern Cape may lodge complaints to the Eastern Cape Rental Housing Tribunal.



  •  Be single and have financial dependents constantly living with you.

  •  

    Single people without financial dependents, such as the aged, people with disabilities and military veterans may be assisted.

  •  

    Must earn 0-R 3500.
